Additional Grant

Next to the main grant an additional grant, which was also funded from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway within the EEA funds allowed to finance additional activities. The main objectives of the project “I See! About Soul and Body for Women with Intellectual Disabilities “ funded from the additional grant was to strengthen the competencies of the project team thanks to the possibility of further training, feedback and exchange of knowledge and good practice with members of the newly established expert group to promote information, methods of work and modern ideas about sexuality of women with mental disabilities.

With the additional grant, we were able to implement the following activities:

• A visit of our Icelandic partner in February 2016 and a meeting with the team of Inclusion Czech Republic where we presented to the Icelandic partners the outputs of the project and received from them very valuable advices and feedback.
• A seminar on “Sexuality of women with intellectual disabilities” to which our partners presented their valuable experience. In addition to Hrafnhildur Snaefridar og Gunarsdóttir and Kristin Bjornsdóttir who participated at the first project meeting, Ms Steinunn Thorvaldsdóttir with her assistant also participated at the seminar and presented her authentic experience of life as a woman with intellectual disabilities in Iceland.
• A meeting between the Icelandic partners and some members of the expert group, to which they presented their experiences regarding sexual violence against women with intellectual disabilities in Iceland and their experiences from the project “Access to specialised victim support services for women with disabilities who have experienced violence”.
